A Sublime Festival

An extraordinary festival to benefit community building to take place at 118 Elliot from 4 to 10:30 p.m. this Saturday, April 14.

But why SUBLIME? "Sublime is something that breaks forms. It goes out, far beyond the scope of any present conceptions of beauty and harmony. The Sublime is both unreachable and omnipresent. It is all-pervading yet it amazingly evades us in our everyday lives, when distractions to its allegiance get in the way" says Luz Elena Morey, the event producer and main presenter of the afternoon and evening concerts.

The concept of the festival is based on the work of Sufi Master Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, who taught Morey that life is worth living when one is present with the spirit of creativity, no matter one's spiritual path or religion. Morey has dedicated her life to this goal.

"To call this a 'Festival of the Sublime' is pretentious, to be sure," says Morey. "We are aiming for this, and yet ... we all aim for what we feel is impossible at times, don't we?"

Morey welcomes us all to the festival. "Bring your own experience of the sublime, or your longing for it, and pass through the magic doors of 118 Elliot this Saturday, see what happens!"
