Borgesen voted Reformer Athlete of the Week

BRATTLEBORO — Leland & Gray varsity girls basketball player Rachel Borgesen received 160 votes to earn Brattleboro Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for March 5-11.

The senior forward racked up 21 points and five steals to lead the Rebels to a 66-41 victory in a Division 3 playdown game in Townshend. She then recorded nine points and five rebounds in a quarterfinal, before finishing her varsity career with a game-high 13 points in a Final 4 loss to Thetford.

Borgesen's prize is two free passes to Brattleboro Bowl for some Cosmic Bowling, which takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings from 9-11.

She is the 13th and final award winner this winter, joining Brattleboro Union High School's Eli Lombardi (boys basketball), Hailey Derosia (girls basketball), Devin Millerick (girls basketball), Axis Balsley-Petraska (girls hockey), and Sam Griffith (boys hockey); Twin Valley's Kendell Howe (girls basketball), Tayler Courchesne (girls basketball), Skyler Boyd (boys basketball), and Brett Swanson (boys basketball); Hinsdale's Peter McCosker (boys basketball); Bellows Falls' Taylor Goodell (girls basketball); and the Compass School's Lucas Saunders (Independent wrestler).
