Colonel boys sweep MAU on courts
"I was afraid the boys might be stale after no matches for 10 days, but they got back on their games quickly. They rose to the challenge of high temps on the courts. We've been working on strategy and position in practice, and it paid off today. The boys were thinking about shots ahead of time and keeping the ball in play until they had an opportunity to finish off the point," said BUHS coach Charlie La Rosa.
Martin Sipowicz (7-5, 6-1); Josh Nordheim (6-2, 6-2); Jonah Petrie (6-2, 7-6, 7-2), Tom Szpila (6-1, 7-5) and Jacob Bailey (6-0, 6-3) all won a singles match for the Colonels. The BUHS doubles teams of Mason Powers-Ari Essunfeld (6-1, 6-1) and Forest Zabriskie-Kyle Murray (6-2, 6-1) also prevailed.
WILMINGTON — Murphy Hicks fanned 11 and threw a no-hit shutout as Bellows Falls defeated Twin Valley 15-0 in a five-inning affair.
