Film: French films

The next French film to screen on Friday, Mar. 10 at 7 p.m. "Zero for Conduct" and "The 400 Blows." A contribution of $5 requested. Hooker-Dunham Theater, 139 Main St., Brattleboro. Free popcorn. Teachers, bring students at no charge

Hooker-Dunham Theatre will continue showing great classic French films on selected Fridays. Our next showing will be on Friday, Mar. 10 at 7 p.m. Choosing the next film was a challenge. We asked people who attended our first showing which film they most wanted to see and it looks like nearly every film on the list had lots of fans! Truffaut's classic Les 400 Coups (The 400 Blows) outranked others, so it's next, along with a much lesser known short film, Jean Vigo's Z ro de Conduite (Zero for Conduct). Vigo's film deals with a similar topic, but in a much lighter vein. For our next showing, the sound has been significantly improved. The movie will also be projected higher on the screen so that subtitles are easier to read. And, of course, free popcorn will again be provided!

"Zero for Conduct" and "The 400 Blows" are slotted for Friday, March 10. Zero for Conduct runs for 35 minutes. After a short intermission, we'll show The 400 Blows.

A contribution of $5 is requested to cover the presentation rights for these wonderful films, but teachers should feel free to bring their students at no charge. No RSVP needed. Just come and enjoy!
