Hiner, Panthers to debut against Castleton

BRATTLEBORO — Just one week before crossing the border to begin his college football career in the Granite State, 2017 Brattleboro Union High School graduate Conor Hiner helped Vermont to a 19-0 victory over New Hampshire in the 64th annual Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl.

The linebacker started for the Vermont defense, which held its foes to 132 total yards of offense and just nine first downs on Saturday at Castleton University.

Hiner was a three-year starter for the Colonels, at both guard and linebacker. Brattleboro coach Chad Pacheco believed that Hiner and Kyle Banford were the best guard-backle tandem in the state over the last two seasons and referred to Hiner as the quarterback of his defense.

The 5-9, 200-pounder finished his high school career with 200 tackles, including 20 for loss, 5.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and on interception. He had 113 tackles as a senior, helping BUHS to a 4-5 record.

Hiner will now major in Athletic Training and also play football at Plymouth State University. The 2017 schedule for the Panthers is shown below.
