Tuttle voted Reformer Athlete of the Week

BRATTLEBORO — Bellows Falls Union High School track and field athlete Reno Tuttle received 138 votes to earn Brattleboro Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for April 30 to May 6.

The sophomore won the shot put (41-9.5) and the discus (131-11) at the Doug Sargent Invitational track meet. He also silvered in the javelin with a heave of 135-5.

Tuttle's prize is two free passes to Brattleboro Bowl for Cosmic Bowling, which takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings from 9-11.

"Go Reno! Very talented athlete," wrote Dee Rice on the voting page.

Walker Hamer

He had three hits and drove in five runs to help the Leland & Gray varsity baseball team to a 22-6 rout of Poultney. The slugger added three more RBI in a 9-4 decision over Twin Valley.

Rachael Rooney

The freshman third baseman went 4-for-4 and batted in three runs as the Brattleboro varsity softball team trounced Windsor, 15-0.

Lucas Messing

Batting in the No./2 spot, he went 2-for-3 when Twin Valley's varsity baseball team held on for a 6-4 victory over Woodstock. The second baseman also encouraged his teammates with positive chatter from start to finish.

Rachel Girroir

The Hinsdale track star won the 1600 and placed second in the 800 as the Lady Pacers tied for first at an eight-school meet in Newport, N.H.
