Twin Valley students win first place at leadership competition

WHITINGHAM — On April 4-5, two Twin Valley High School students, junior Willie Queenie and senior Taylor Florence, enrolled at the Windham Regional Career Center in engineering led by Amy Anthony, competed in Vermont Leadership and Skills Conference in Burlington. The team competed in the Mobile Robotics completion and won first place, receiving gold medals. This event qualifies the students for Nationals at SkillsUSA in Louisville, Ky., June 25-29, for the 54th National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC), a showcase of career and technical education students. More than 16,000 people including students, teachers and business partners are expected to participate in the week-long event. The group has received funding through the local chapter Skills, GSP, and the Whitingham /Halifax Lions Club, and other organization. Any individuals or groups that would like to fund this trip or sponsor students can send donations to Windham Regional Career Center 80 Atwood Brattleboro VT 05301, in care of Skills.
