To the Editor: I am writing to express my thanks to the Vermont Congressional delegation for their continued support for our environment. All three have high scores on the recently released League of Conservation Voters’ 2024 National Environmental Scorecard. The Vermont federal delegation’s scores for 2024 are: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I), 88 percent (91 percent lifetime); Sen. Peter Welch (D), 100 percent (95 percent lifetime); and Rep. Becca Balint (D), 100 percent (99 percent lifetime).
As a member of the board of directors for Vermont Conservation Voters, I’m proud to have leaders that are committed to safeguarding democracy and protecting our environment for my children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
It is a joy in these unsettling, frightening, and mystifying times that Vermont’s delegation stands firm against proposals that would roll back environmental and democratic protections.
